4M Technologies is a Swiss industrial Group established by Adel Michael in 1988.

The Group activities were focused on the development, manufacturing and sales of optical data storage media production equipment, technologies and services.


By the late 90’s 4M became the world leader of its sector with more than 20% of the world market share. Its unique fully integrated and automated mass production systems was behind the success of the Company in the recordable optical discs; a large market penetration has been achieved in all type of data storage applications worldwide.

The Company successfully installed more than 1500 cutting edge production systems in nearly 40 countries around the world.

The Company success was due to its unique offering of total solutions to its customers from factory design, systems supply, commissioning up to manufacturing start-up. It also included manufacturing process technology transfer, key personnel training and implementation at customer site of state-of-the-art quality management system.

10 years after its foundation 4M revenues reached approx. 240mio CHF per year.

In 1999 the company was successfully listed in the Swiss Stock New Market “SWX” and the founder/CEO sold out his minority stake and exited the Company in early 2001.
